Projects PREPARATION OF STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN OF PLUNGĖ DISTRICT FOR 2002-2010 On March 20 2003, the Lithuanian Regional Research Institute presented the Strategic Development Plan of Plungė District for 2002-2010 to the Plungė District Municipality Council. This document evaluates the role of Plungė District in Lithuanian economic and social life, proposes prospects for development, forecasts goals and measures to achieve them. Upon approval of the Strategic Plan, households and institutions will have a particular pattern for their own planning documents. When forming and approving every year budget of the district, it would be possible to show to the society and Council members the goals not only for one year, but future development trends as well. Hopefully, the Strategic Plan will help to make use of the aid of the EU structural funds, available from the year 2004 under one program. Obviously, it was necessary to integrate the planning of the Municipality development. Such resource planning system will lead to more efficient employment of funds for economic development, by concentrating them on the most important sectors of economy and implementation of the most relevant measures.
