Project The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania in co-operation with the Lithuanian Regional Research Institute is preparing The goal of the study is to offer suggestions for drafting the Law on Resorts in the Republic of Lithuania. In our country is prevailing a tendency when an increasing number of small towns wish to be granted a status of a resort town. Historically, in Lithuania formed up four resorts - Palanga, Neringa, Druskininkai and Birštonas; however no legal documents have been adopted so far to regulate the criteria for granting a status of a resort town. The study in question would serve as the basis for drafting the Law on Resorts in the Republic of Lithuania. The experience gained by foreign countries in regulating the resort status could help us in implemented related criteria in Lithuania. In this project the authors will analyse related experience accumulated in Latvia, Belarus, Poland, Russia, Germany and Scandinavian countries. According to the results of analysis and Lithuanian resort history, the criteria for granting a status of a resort town will be introduced. |
